Hola! Welcome to DayThinking.com, a place where the brain can exercise and bathe in free thought. A place where education, facts, and opinions can play together, allowing the mind to actively participate in a little “DayThinking”.
Daythinking is much different than daydreaming, often more thoughtful and meaningful, and usually based in reality. Daythinking utilizes both creative and critical thinking, and has some substance, not just hopes and wishes. I feel we’re all pretty good at daydreaming, hell, some of us are masters at it. I’m a daydreamer, and love it, but I also feel that we need to be better at allocating some time in our day to “think”, not just “dream”….we have the capability of higher level thought, so let’s use it.

I came up with the concept of DayThinking because I literally spend hours a day doing exactly that, thinking throughout the day, both creatively (my favorite) and constructively. It can be about my personal practice, my loved ones, how does something work, why and how things happen, politics, what the hell is going on in this world…I think about all sorts of things. So, after some daythinking;) I decided to start my own website based on my own thoughts, opinions, experience, and advice…hopefully expressed in a thoughtful, mostly unbiased, and partially professional manner.

So here’s a little about me…how narcissistic, right?!
I’m a product of a good ole’ Midwestern family, born in 1977 in St. Louis, Missouri. I was raised by my loving parents whom believed in God, family values, manners, and discipline if warranted. My parents were also free spirited, free thinking, and loved to have a good time…and according to my mom, dad occasionally had a little too much of a good time. I learned early on that you can have a lot of fun in life while keeping your values… testing them, but for the most part keeping them.

I decided to focus on healthcare in my early 20’s after losing my dad to lung cancer. My father was a top-notch individual and a hard worker, and was way too young to be taken by cancer. He came from two very hard working families that came over to the USA from Germany and Hungary, so he knew a little about hard work and “tough love”. He also knew how to party and have fun equally as hard as he worked. He knew how to talk with people, as well as listen to them…people absolutely loved my dad. I decided after his death, and a couple years of lounging by the pool ‘mending my soul’, that I wanted to become a physician and help other folks with their healthcare needs.

I noticed my dad trying alternative measures for his cancer treatment, before it was ‘popular’, because he didn’t want just chemo and radiation. My mom and dad knew there had to be things they could also do. He started juicing, he went outside for fresh air and mind release, he prayed, and he occasionally  smoked pot (probably for more than to just get his appetite back:). This was such a learning experience, which I didn’t even know at the time…he was happier, smiled more, appeared to accept things, and was more motivated. It was great to see, but it was too late for my dad. The cancer was fierce and he didn’t have enough time for his alternative measures to pay off. The greatest man I knew passed away in his early 40’s…although his guidance and inspiration are with me every day.

Besides learning that my mom is the strongest woman that I know, due in part to how she handled supporting and caring for my dad and the family during this time, but this tragic and heartbreaking experience also got me interested in the many avenues that alternative healthcare provides. I’m drawn to it because you focus on the patient’s physical needs by naturally working with the mind, spirit, and body…not just their symptoms for symptom control. So after considering a few different avenues in the healthcare field, I decided that I wanted to become a chiropractic physician.

I’ve been practicing chiropractic in the St. Louis area since graduating from Logan University in 2004. In my private practice I treat patients of all ages for complaints throughout the body. I utilize spinal and extra-spinal adjustments, therapies, nutritional recommendations, and many other natural approaches to treat the whole body. My absolute favorite thing that I do in practice is by far patient education, and giving input and advice on their needs, as well as the human frame and all that’s involved. I also know I’m not the only physician needed all the time, so I have absolutely no problem referring out to another physician for co-management as needed…I can play friendly with other physicians as long as they’re friendly too.

But healthcare isn’t my only passion. So are animals, sports, politics, religion, news, travel, entertainment, outdoors, home renovations, …..life!! So many things interest me that I have thoughts on most things in life, and love to express them. Agree or disagree, I have my thoughts and you your own, so let’s respectively express them and maybe even listen to each other….we’re all in this thing together, make the best of it!

My hopes for my writings are to use my personal thoughts, opinions, knowledge, and daily conversations to give you something to “daythink” about, learn about, laugh about, or to promote and stimulate the thinking process in hopes to spark global health and unity! 😉

May all of your DayThinking be productive to you, your loved ones, your fellow humans, and to this planet!!

Hope you enjoy something!!

Yours in health, happiness, and fun,
Dr. Matt
